Some brands offer more cost-effective alternatives, like Prilosec and Prilosec XR, but the savings are usually small.
Here’s a look at the cost of prescription nexium (including generic alternatives) over the past three years — and how it compares with other popular brand-name medications.
Here are some examples of brand-name and generic nexium:
When it comes to cost, finding the best price doesn’t have to be a big deal for you. Generic medications come at a fraction of the price of brand-name options. That’s good for consumers, but it may not be a good thing for everyone.
Prilosec has been around for decades and has the same active ingredient as brand-name Nexium. Generic Prilosec is just as effective as the brand-name version but is much cheaper. Generic Prilosec XR has been around since the late 1990s.
Prilosec was the first generic medication approved for heartburn in 2006. It remains the only one of its kind in the United States. Generic Prilosec has been available over the years without a prescription in many countries around the world.
Prilosec was approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2001 for the treatment of acid regurgitation (a condition where acid reflux happens because there is too much stomach acid).
Prilosec XR is available as a generic version. Generic Prilosec XR is priced at about £13.99 per tablet. This price difference usually makes sense for a medication that is both brand-name and generic.
Zoloft has a more affordable price tag than brand-name Nexium. Generic Prilosec is just as effective as brand-name Nexium, but it’s cheaper. Generic Prilosec XR is just as effective as brand-name Nexium, but it’s cheaper.
Zoloft has a more affordable price tag than brand-name Prilosec. Generic Prilosec is just as effective as brand-name Prilosec XR, but it’s cheaper.
Pristiq has a more affordable price tag than brand-name Prilosec. Generic Prilosec is priced at about £8.99 per tablet.
Like Generic Prilosec, Protonix has a more affordable price tag than brand-name Prilosec. Generic Prilosec is priced at about £4.99 per tablet.
Milenorol has a slightly cheaper price tag than brand-name Nexium. Generic Prilosec is priced at about £5.49 per tablet.
